Why Mansfield is a Great Place to Live

Mansfield is a small town in Tolland County, Connecticut.  It’s quaint little community was named after Major Moses Mansfield. The suburban town of Mansfield is often said to be one of the best towns in Connecticut to live in. There are many young professionals and students who live in Mansfield making this an ideal location for young individuals in search of off campus housing.  There is much to do in this small town and residents will agree it’s fun and exciting to live in.   


There are a number of unique and very fun-filled things to do in Mansfield.  Here are just a few.



  • Mansfield Hollow State Park The Mansfield Hollow State Park is a beautiful recreational area that consists of acres and acres of land.  This state park is owned by the U.S. Army Corps and is specific to recreational and wildlife management.  There are remnants of the last glaciers here, and visitors can enjoy boating, fishing, hiking, cross-country skiing, picnicking, and mountain biking. 

     

  • The Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts This performing arts center is the largest college-based presenting program in all of New England and seats more than 2,600 people.  It is located right on the UConn main campus.  There have been a wide range of renowned national and international artists and orchestras, including the Boston Pops and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, that have performed at this beautiful performing arts center.   


  • The Adventure Park at Storrs This Park is a favorite spot for many.  It is donned with zip lines, climbing adventures, hiking trails as well as a variety of bridges and lots more exciting activities for visitors of all ages and skill sets.  With so many challenging outdoor activities, including a number of hiking trails, everyone is sure to find something that satisfies their taste in adventure.  For the quieter and less adventurous folks, a relaxing picnic lunch may be the ideal activity for you.   

 

  • Connecticut Eastern Railroad Museum This intriguing railroad museum is located in nearby Willimantic, Connecticut.  The Museum boasts a replica Columbia Roadhouse that was constructed in 2000 with many exhibits that include steam locomotives and diesel-electric trains to name a few.  Along the border of this property runs the adventurous Air Line trail.  Offering its visitors much to view, this Railroad Museum is a must see.
